Diary of a TCG Newbie: Week 5

Join Vault X intern and card beginner Gabz as she learns about the TCG and accessories industry across six weeks…

Dear Diary,

Another week down, one more to go. Eek! It has gradually been hitting me more and more that my time at Vault X will soon be coming to an end. 🙁  With that said, I was determined to make this the best second-to-last week possible.

Monday kicked the week off to a fantastic start – I recorded a podcast episode with Vault X CEO Pete. There were fewer tech issues this time, which was particularly welcome for a Monday morning (and the fact that I was interviewing our CEO/ my boss). Pete, of course, was a complete pro, and I’m really looking forward to editing our episode soon.

I then edited a TikTok video and more clips from Content Day. Something I have really learnt throughout the last five weeks is just how long editing takes, particularly for a 20-second-long TikTok! The process requires lots of determination and resilience, which may come as a surprise, as the result always seems so effortless. Thankfully, Ben taught me how to use the fancy coffee machine, so that has kept me nice and fuelled. The fancy coffee machine has been a GAMECHANGER!

Tuesday was really exciting. I edited and published what is probably my favourite blog yet. Last week’s mystery influencer interview was with the amazing PokiChloe. Chloe is a British TCG influencer and is co-founder of the world-renowned Collector’s Cardhouse. It was a massive honour being able to speak to her, and I’m really happy with the result. You can read the blog here!

On Wednesday, I interviewed our brilliant head of Marketing and E-commerce, Robin. Robin was the one who reached out to me about having my placement at Vault X, and I will forever be grateful for that. The rest of the day involved editing some videos that will be played at CardParty next week. I’m excited to hear what the team gets up to in the States!

On Thursday, we celebrated co-founder Gary’s Birthday. We ate Minecraft cake and it was honestly 10/10. There was also a networking lunch with pizza and a talk from a local business, which was inspiring. I then uploaded my favourite TikTok yet. Big up the amazing Vault X team for their contributions! 🙂 Stay tuned for some similar content being released next week..

Friday was much calmer, which meant I could tie up some projects and finally finish editing footage from Content Day. Hurray!

Time to sunbathe in the scorching 26-degree heat and rest up for the best final week ever.

Until next time,

Gabz 🚀
